Tree Removal in East Aurora, NY

Where the Brush Goes Matters Here

Tree Removal in East Aurora has one practical wrinkle that surprises people moving in: the village has no curbside yard waste pickup. Residents drop yard waste off on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Department of Public Works lot on Pine Street Extension, April through October, and leaves are collected curbside from October to December. That works for raking and garden trimming. It does not work for a 70-foot maple. Our estimates in the village include chipping on site and hauling the wood away, unless you want to keep firewood.

An old village with old trees

East Aurora was founded in 1804 and incorporated in 1874. Millard Fillmore lived here from 1826 to 1830 in a house built in 1825, and the Roycroft Campus, a National Historic Landmark since 1986, anchors the arts-and-crafts history the village is known for. The village is also on the Tree City USA list. Streets lined with large maples, oaks and ash give it its character, and the yards behind those streets hold trees just as old.

Southern edge of the snow bands

The village sits on the southern edge of many Buffalo-area lake-effect events. The National Weather Service noted that the November 2014 band's southern edge reached Orchard Park and East Aurora, while towns a few miles north got four to five feet. Heavy, wet snow on evergreens, or on maples in leaf, is the classic way limbs break in this part of the county. The East Branch of Cazenovia Creek runs through the southern part of the village, and creek-side trees there sit in softer ground.

Who lives here

The village had 5,998 residents in 2020 on about 2.5 square miles. Census QuickFacts shows a 70.8% owner-occupied rate, a median owner-occupied home value of $364,100, and 26.7% of residents aged 65 or older, one of the highest shares in the area. Long-time owners often want a declining tree handled before it becomes an emergency, and buyers of older homes want an honest read on the trees that came with the house. We give both the same plain assessment.

Keeping what can be kept

In a village that values its canopy, removal should be the answer only when it is the right one. A big tree with deadwood, a heavy limb over the roof or a narrow fork can often be pruned and kept for years. A tree with a decayed base, a split trunk or a dead crown cannot. We will tell you plainly which side of that line each tree is on, and put both options in writing if there is a real choice.

East Aurora Questions

Can I take the brush to the Pine Street lot myself?

For small amounts during the April to October Saturday hours, yes. A whole tree is far more than a car or small trailer can carry, which is why most people include hauling in the removal.

Our old house has a big maple right against the foundation. Is that a problem?

It can be, mostly for the roof, gutters and sewer line rather than the foundation itself. If the tree is sound, pruning may be enough. If it is declining, removing it before a limb fails over the house is the cheaper path.

Do you work in the Town of Aurora outside the village?

Yes. Lots there are often bigger, and we can leave cut wood on site if you have room.

Does the village regulate removal of trees on private lots?

Trees on the strip by the street may belong to the village, so ask before any work on those. For trees well inside your own lot, we can walk through what is involved, and you can confirm any village requirement before scheduling.
